The Trinidad and Tobago First Citizens Bank (FCB) Cup, or commonly known as the First Citizens Cup, is TT Pro League's league cup style football competition. The knockout tournament was inaugurated in 2000 and has since been sponsored by First Citizens Bank. The cup is contested in September towards the end of each TT Pro League regular season.

Beginning in 2000, under the name of the Professional Football League Cup, San Juan Jabloteh defeated Defence Force 1–0 to claim the inaugural tournament. First Citizens Bank began to sponsor the league cup in 2001, which saw W Connection claim their first title. Defence Force went on to claim the cup in 2002 and Jabloteh became the first club to win the title twice having won again in 2003. W Connection were crowned champions for five consecutive years from 2004 to 2008.[1] However, in 2009, Defence Force claimed their second title and their first trophy in six years with a 1–0 win over Joe Public.

The current theme of the knockout tournament is No Room for Losers, with TT$65,000 to the winner.[2]

[edit] Format

Currently, seeding for the competition is determined from the league standings following the twentieth league match day. The bottom two teams are placed in the 10th Place Playoff with the winner advancing to the Qualifying Round. Teams placed seventh to ninth in the standings are placed in the Qualifying Round to determine which teams advance to the Quarterfinals. The teams ranked from first to sixth automatically advance to the Quarterfinals.

All matches are played for 90 minutes duration, at the end of which if the match is still tied, penalty-kicks are used to determine the match winner.
