[edit] Top Heatseekers

Top Heatseekers refers to either of 2 separate "Breaking and Entering" Music Charts by Billboard Magazine - the Heatseeker Albums Chart or the Heatseeker Songs Chart. They were introduced by Billboard in 1993^[1] with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the Billboard 200.

[edit] Heatseeker Albums Chart

Heatseekers Album Chart contains 50 Chart Positions and charts "the week's top-selling albums by new or developing acts, defined as those who have never appeared on the top 100 of the Billboard Top 200, or the top 10 of R&B/HipHop Albums, Country Albums, Latin Albums, Christian Albums, or Gospel Abums. If a title reaches any of these levels, it and the artist's subsequent albums are ineligible to appear on Heatseeker Albums. Titles are ranked by data compiled by Nielsen Soundscan."^[2] Note that the chart's policies have changed slightly over the years.^[3]

Note that there are many artists who bypassed Top Heatseekers altogether by having their initial chart entry debut on the Billboard 200 at position 100 or above.
