Calumet Region Striders 2009 Gold Cup Male Clydesdale Standings Summary calstrider.org | St. Andrew's Toowoomba Hospital sath.org.au |
The Toowoomba Clydesdales are a rugby league football club based in Toowoomba, Queensland. They have played in the Queensland Wizard Cup since the competition began in 1996. Historically, the Clydsedales were the representative team for the Toowoomba competition. They competed in the Bulimba Cup, played various other representative matches and were arguably the strongest rugby league team in the world during the 1920s. In 1924, the team defeated England, New Zealand, Brisbane, Ipswich, the New South Wales state side and New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership holders, South Sydney. They were the feeder club for the National Rugby League's Brisbane Broncos from 1999 to 2006.[1]. On December 6, 2006, the board announced that the club was roughly AU$100,000 short to be able to field a team in the 2007 Queensland Cup and its future is now uncertain. The following day the Aspley Broncos were announced as the new feeder team for the Broncos[2]. [edit] Notable Players
