Tony first discovered drifting in Japanese magazines and videos as a Philadelphia-area tuner of street cars with friend and fellow drifter Chris Forsberg. He went on to become a pioneer of American drifting, starting the first regular East Coast events in 2003, getting featured in a "Wired" magazine story about drifting the same year and founding the superlative American team, Drift Alliance. In a matter of months, Tony went from the back roads of Pennsylvania to being a pro driver known for stylish and aggressive driving, with overall speed his greatest strength. He started competing in the 2003 D1 GP drivers search at Irwindale and gone on to place first at a D1 licensing event in '05, earn fastest overall qualifier three times (most recently at Seattle ‘08) and take home two Formula D Team Drift victories.

Tony is also a prolific judge, overseeing events for DGTrials, USDrift, Club 4AG, Falken Tires Drift Showoff, Just Drift, Drift Mania Canadian Championship and Clubloose. As a judge, Tony is known for giving everyone a fair shot and focusing on the driving above all else. Tony was a Formula D judge for the 2009 season, bringing major changes to judging format and scoring, resulting in a marked improvement of the 2009 series judging.

Tony has been competing in drifting professionally since 2004. He has gone on to rack up numerous top 16, top8 and 1st place finishes in Formula D, D1GP, and Formula D team drift.

Tony Angelo has starred in several Drifting films including Bad as Hell, Slide America, and Stay Hungry. He is also known to support the grassroots scene in Drifting by attending local events in Southern California and lending a helping hand to all up and coming California drivers. Tony Angelo currently drives a Mazda Rx-8 in Formula D with sponsors including Mazda, Maxxis Tires,Exedy Racing Clutches, and Disc Brakes Australia to name a few.
