Todd Edward Johnson (born December 18, 1978 in Sarasota, Florida) is an American football safety for the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. He previously played for the St. Louis Rams.

[edit] High School Years

As a standout defensive back at Sarasota's Riverview High School, Todd Johnson was All-State and All-American as a senior, as well as setting the school record for the 110 hurdles.

At the University of Florida where he started in 33 out of 49 games and finished his career with 284 tackles and nine interceptions earning All-Southeastern Conference in final three seasons at Florida. He was Second-team All-SEC as senior, starting all 13 games, notching 88 tackles and two interceptions. He started all 11 games as junior, tallying 72 tackles, three passes defensed, and two interceptions. Johnson was First-team All-SEC selection as sophomore, starting all 13 games, making career-high 102 tackles, five interceptions, three passes defensed, one forced fumble, and four fumble recoveries, including one returned 76 yards for a touchdown. He had 24 tackles, four passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery as redshirt freshman. He was a Physical education teaching major.

[edit] Chicago Bears

Johnson was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round (100th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft In his debut season he did not make any appearances after sustaining a broken jaw in a preseason game. In 2004, he made 16 appearances including ten starts and finished the season with 75 tackles. The following year, Johnson played 14 times, registering 35 tackles. Johnson was released following the 2006 Chicago Bears season during which he made 32 tackles. Johnson was Mike Brown's immediate surrogate during his tenure with the Bears, and saw extended playing time following Brown's season-ending injury.

[edit] St.Louis Rams

Johnson signed a four-year $4 million contract to play with the St. Louis Rams on March 12, 2007. In his first season with the Rams, he finished the campaign with 29 tackles.[1] In 2008 Johnson made 23 tackles in a backup safety role. He was cut by the Rams on 5 September, 2009.

On October 13, 2009, Johnson signed a one year free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills.
