Tito Horford (born January 19, 1966 in La Romana, Dominican Republic) is a retired Dominican professional basketball player who was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2nd round (39th overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. Horford played three years in the NBA, two with the Bucks from 1988-1990, and a short stint with the Washington Bullets during the 1993-94 season.
In college he played basketball at the University of Miami. Horford attended Marian Christian High School in Houston which originally recruited him from the Dominican Republic.
Tito Horford was the first Dominican-born player to play in the NBA. [1]
His son, Al Horford, went to the University of Florida and played a prominent role on the Gators team that won the national championship in 2006 and 2007. He was selected 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2007 NBA Draft.
