[edit] Background

Tim Clark has been in the civil aviation business since 1972 when he joined British Caledonian. In 1975, he moved to Gulf Air in Bahrain and subsequently to Dubai in 1985 where he became a member of the founding team of Emirates as Head of Airline Planning. He is now the President of Emirates and former Managing Director of Sri Lankan Airlines. The latter post resulted from the acquisition of a 40% stake in Sri Lankan Airline by Emirates during April 1998. [2] However the post has been lost, after the Sri Lankan government took control over the airline and Emirates never renewed their contract for management of the airline, however the airline continues to hold a 43.6% stake in the airline.[3]

He became President of Emirates in 2003 after spending 18 years helping build an aviation empire, which owes much to the route networks he established soon after joining as Head of Airline Planning.

In addition, Mr Clark is the Chairman of the Emirates Foundation, a non-profit charity that he helped found which provides humanitarian, philanthropic aid and services for children in need around the world.[4]

Clark has been instrumental in deciding some of the largest aircraft orders in history, including the largest order for the A380 of 58 units and over 130 Airbus A350 aircraft.[5]

[edit] Education

Tim Clark gained an economics graduate from London University and later became a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.[6]
