Thomas Woodcock, Norroy and Ulster King of Arms

Thomas Woodcock, LVO, FSA, DL (born 1951) is Her Majesty's Norroy and Ulster King of Arms and appointed Garter Principal King of Arms[1] . He was educated at Eton College. He went on to University College, Durham and Darwin College, Cambridge. Woodcock was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple. He began his heraldic career in 1975 as a research assistant to Sir Anthony Wagner, Garter King of Arms. In 1978 he was appointed Rouge Croix Pursuivant, and in 1982 promoted to Somerset Herald. Woodcock held this office until his appointment as Norroy and Ulster in 1997. He was made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List of 1996. In December 2005 Thomas Woodcock was named Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Lancashire. In that capacity he assists the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Shuttleworth, in representing the Queen in the county. Woodcock was appointed Garter Principal King of Arms, with effect from 2010.
