The following Simpsons DVDs are all compilation releases in various regions. The Simpsons DVD season box sets have been released since 2001 in different regions throughout the world. They have been released with Region 1 (North America), Region 2 (Europe), and Region 4 (New Zealand, Australia, and Latin America) encoding. The first five box sets (seasons 1-5) all have outer cardboard packaging based around a memorable couch gag from the show. The next seven box sets (seasons 6-12) are available in two separate packages. The first is a standard cardboard package with a theme, and the second is a limited edition plastic package in the shape of the head of one of the Simpson family. Each season's box includes every episode from the season; commentaries hosted by the writers, producers, and actors; deleted scenes; animated commentaries; and other extras such as old commercials featuring The Simpsons characters.
