The Yogi Bear Show is an animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions about a fast-talking bear named Yogi.

The show debuted in syndication on January 30 and ran for 31 episodes till December 30 in 1961 and included two segments, Snagglepuss and Yakky Doodle.[1] The show only had a two year production run.[2]

Snagglepuss the Mountain Lion (voiced by Daws Butler impersonating Bert Lahr) tries to make his life hospitable while occassionally evading a hunter named Major Minor (voiced by Don Messick).

Yakky Doodle (voiced by Jimmy Weldon) is a duck who live with his best friend Chopper the Bulldog (voiced by Vance Colvig impersonating Wallace Beery). Chopper would usually protect Yakky from being eaten by Fibber Fox (voiced by Daws Butler impersonating Shelley Berman).

  • Following the show's cancellation, Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, a film based upon the series, was released in 1964 by Columbia Pictures.
  • The series was revived in 1970s with Yogi and his fellow Hanna-Barbera cartoon stars saving the world from villians trying to ruin the earth, and several different shows, specials and movies including a show featuring Yogi and company as teenagers.
  • The show will be adapated in to a live-action/CGI motion picture from Warner Bros. (owner of Yogi Bear and other Hanna-Barbera properites) that is set to be released in 2010.
