[edit] Legal Issues[edit] 2004Edward Shannon Burke files for Bankruptcy in Orange County, FL [edit] 2008Edward Shannon Burke was arrested in 2008. After Burke pleaded No Contest Nov. 13, 2008, to alcohol-related reckless driving, he was sentenced to 364 days of probation, ordered to attend traffic school and assessed fines and court fees of $1,483.10, court records show.[1] [edit] 2009Shannon was arrested on April 30, 2009 after a dispute with his wife over the loss of his own dog, in which he allegedly shot the family dog in the leg with a 40-caliber handgun and the bullet grazed his wife in the head.[2] Her dog is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Charlotte. Charlotte required several stitches running down her entire back leg. His wife Catherine's head wound was not fatal. Pictures released by the Orlando Sentinel showed stitches running from Catherine's right-hand temple to behind her right ear in an arc over her skull, explaining the high amount of bleeding reported at the time. According to the public 911 tapes, his wife's head was bleeding badly and she was "feeling woozy" before emergency responders arrived at his home. Catherine Burke was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center and later released. Shannon Burke was being held on $10,000.00 bail on charges of animal cruelty and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and was released on May 6th, 2009. Mr. Burke was also ordered by Seminole County Judge Jerri L. Collins to stay at least 1,500 feet away from his wife and their Altamonte Springs home, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. On May 5th, Catherine Burke's lawyer, Michael K. Rathel, filed paperwork seeking a domestic violence injunction against the former radio personality. She claimed that Shannon intentionally decided to shoot the dog, with intent to kill it, while she watched. [3] She said that he even changed ammunition magazines when the first magazine was empty and would not fire. Shannon said that the gun fired on accident, and he did not know it was loaded. On May 6th, Burke was arrested again for alleged indirect contact with his wife, a violation of his release, when he sent a friend to his house to pick up his motorcycle. [edit] Termination from Clear Channel CommunicationsClear Channel Communications terminated the employment of Shannon Burke effective May 4, 2009. The news was first announced by Jim Philips on The Philips Phile show on May 4th, 2009. "Shannon has been terminated," Clear Channel Programming Director Chris Kampmeier was quoted as saying on May 4th, 2009.. Kampmeier said company policy prohibited him from going into more detail. He said the temporary plans for Real Radio 104.1's midday show are for it to continue on with Soul Brother Kevin and the rest of the crew. The station, WTKS, has not yet made plans for the show's long-term. Since Shannon's termination, Real Radio's Bucket Head Show has been moved from evenings to midday. Soul Brother Kevin and crew have moved to the 7 p.m. slot with SBK Live. [edit] FormatThe radio show was a mix of current events, comedy, and politics. Discussions involve the serious to the total bizarre. Guests include comedians visiting the local Improv comedy club, local celebrities, and sometimes national celebrities. [edit] Segments

[edit] Fan baseThe fans of the show consisted of a wide cross section of ages, geographic, and economic demographics. Bikers to clergy, Republican to Democrat, and conservative to liberal all call the show and voice their opinion on the various topics presented. It is likely that the balance of Burke and SBK had brought tremendous success to the show with respects to appealing to a broader fan base than either would individually. The "Chronics" is based on discussions on the official WTKS webboard (which has now been disbanded and replaced with an unofficial webboards). The name stuck with Real Radio fans, and even the station's email newsletter is now called "Club Chronic". Frequent Callers
