The Savannah Country Day School (SCDS) is a preparatory school founded in 1955 in Savannah, Georgia. The school operates a Lower School (grades Pre-kindergarten-5) and a Middle School (grades 6-8) and an Upper School (grades 9-12). The Upper School has an enrollment of about 300 students and an average graduating class size of 75.[citation needed]
[edit] HistoryThe school's founding headmaster, Bob Trusdell, superintended the school's move from facilities on Drayton Street in Downtown Savannah to a new building on forty-five acres of land that Mr. Donald Livingston had given to Savannah Country Day. It remains in the White Bluff/ Windsor Forest area of southside Savannah. [edit] Campus[edit] Lower SchoolThe Country Day Lower School Building was completed in 2008. The building is the first LEED certified building in Savannah.[citation needed] [edit] Middle SchoolThe Country Day Middle School Building, known as Pape Hall, was the first new construction is a series of improvements to student facilities. [edit] Upper SchoolThe Country Day Upper School has an average student body size of 300 and graduating class of 75. 19 Advanced Placement and a variety of honors courses are offered to students to prepare them for college-level work.
