The Robert Heinlein Interview and other Heinleiniana is a collection of non-fiction articles about science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein, written by J. Neil Schulman over the years 1972 through 1988 and first published in 1990. It features the longest interview that Heinlein ever granted, in which he talked about his personal philosophy and ideology.

[edit] Contents

The book consists of fifteen articles by Schulman and a foreword by Brad Linaweaver. Four of these articles are published reviews of Heinlein's novels: Revolt in 2100, Time Enough for Love, Job: A Comedy of Justice and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. Another four are letters detailing how this book came about. Two are literary reviews of Heinlein as an author and the rest are introductions and afterthoughts about the Heinlein interview.

Over half of this book consists of Schulman's three-and-a-half hour, taped interview with Heinlein, conducted by telephone in June 1973. In it, Heinlein talks about evolution, general semantics, art and commercialism, the space program, flavors of libertarianism, sex, communism, Future History, high school reading lists, science fiction writing, afterlife, UFO's, house building, artificial intelligence and voting rights.
