"The Reason" is a single from Céline Dion's album Let's Talk About Love. It was released on December 8, 1997 in selected European countries: United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium. In France, it was issued as a double A-side single with "My Heart Will Go On."^[1]

"The Reason" was co-written by Carole King and produced by the famous Beatles producer Sir George Martin. King did also the background vocals.

The song peaked at number 11 in the United Kingdom and number 13 in Ireland. In France, thanks to "My Heart Will Go On" it was number 1 for 13 weeks and became a million selling single certified with diamond award (1,200,000 copies sold).

The music video was directed by Scott Floyd Lochmus and released in December 1997. It was showing the recording of the song in the studio.

In April 1998, Céline Dion sang "The Reason" as a duet with Carole King during the VH1 Divas concert. Carole King recorded also her own version of this song for her 2001 album Love Makes the World, this time with Céline Dion on backing vocals.

Dion performed "The Reason" during her Let's Talk About Love Tour.

The track was included later on The Collector's Series, Volume One in 2000 and My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection European edition in 2008.

The recording of this song was included as a bonus on the Au cœur du stade DVD.
