Rachael Ray, also known as The Rachael Ray Show, is a talk show starring Rachael Ray that debuted in syndication in the United States and Canada on September 18, 2006.[1] The hour-long daytime program is co-produced by Ray and Oprah Winfrey through her Harpo Productions and distributed domestically and globally by CBS Television Distribution. It is filmed at EUE/Screen Gems' New York facility. The third season of the show premiered on September 8, 2008.
In 2008, the show won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment.
The show averages about 2.6 million views daily, making it one of the highest viewed daytime shows. Not long after it debuted, it was revealed that Rachael Ray was renewed through 2010, adding 2 years to the already 2 years it had received. Then again in June 2009 Rachael Ray was renewed for 2 more years, till 2012 making 6 seasons. [2] Rachael Ray is the only one of the four syndicated daytime talk shows that premiered for the 2006-07 season to be renewed.
The concept behind this program focuses on more than just Ray's culinary skills, offering many other celebrity interviews, provocative discussions, musical performances and groundbreaking features along the lines of The Oprah Winfrey Show. According to Ray, "People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to share."[3] The set has the audience seated on a large turntable that rotates so that the audience can always see the "action" on the circular stage that surrounds them.
On March 9, 2007, Entertainment Tonight revealed that the show's theme music was written and recorded by Rachael's husband, John Cusimano. The original theme song to the show was performed by R&B, Soul and Jazz group The Neville Brothers. Their song has the same rhythm as their classic hit "Yellow Moon", but with different lyrics. Aaron Neville sings the song.
