The Oath is a 2005 fictional short film set in 1950s Kenya during the Mau Mau uprising under British colonialism. It portrays the struggle between two brothers on opposite sides of the conflict. Many of the actors in the film were descendants of Mau Mau fighters. It was produced with their input, as an educational tool at a time when Mau Mau was less appreciated in Kenyan society than it is today. It received critical acclaim for its balanced and positive portrayal of the Mau Mau and their struggle for independence from the British.

The Oath was written and directed by Nathan Collett. It was produced by Hot Sun Films.
