The LNM Institute of Information Technology is a deemed university [1] situated in Jaipur. It is a public private partnership between The L N Mittal and Usha Mittal foundation and the Government of Rajasthan. It is a non-profit organization.

This institute was started in 2002 with a unique branch, Communication and Computer Engineering, in a temporary Campus near MNIT, Jaipur. Today, the Institute operates out of its well-equipped modern campus, located about 10KM from Jaipur-Agra Highway. The number of disciplines now is three:

The LNM Institute of Information Technology, a Deemed University, is a public-private partnership University jointly set-up by the Government of Rajasthan and the LAKSHMI & USHA MITTAL FOUNDATION as an autonomous non-profit organization. The current Director, Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi is an experienced academician and administrator, and is currently on leave from IIT Kanpur.

This Institute's biggest weakness is that less than 30% of its faculty has a basic degree in engineering or technology. Check http://www.lnmiit.ac.in/People/User-RegularFaculty.aspx The problem is fully recognized, however, and remedial steps are being taken.

UNDERGRADUATE (UG) PROGRAM

The admissions for 240 undergraduate seats are based on merit in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination AIEEE. There are 80 seats in each branch (Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Communication and Computer Engineering). In addition, 10 seats are also open for admission based on merit in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). After admission, a student is given enough freedom to re-choose his/her branch of specialization after the first year of education, common to all branches, is complete.
