Terra Nova High School is an American public high school in Pacifica in San Mateo County, California serving grades 9 through 12 as part of the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD).
[edit] HistoryTerra Nova High School was established in 1961 to serve the growing population in the Linda Mar district of southern Pacifica. Students attended from Vallemar, Rockaway Beach, Mori Point, Fairway, Sharp Park and Pacific Manor districts until Oceana Highschool was completed the following year. [edit] CampusThe original buildings and campus were designed by Mark Falk & Corwin Booth (of Falk & Booth). The main building originally had only two stories when the school opened in 1961. (Source: California Department of Education) [edit] CurriculumTerra Nova offers Advanced Placement courses in US History, European History, Chemistry, Environmental Science, US Government, Language and Composition, Literature, Studio Art, Music Theory, and Calculus AB.[1] As of 2007, Terra Nova has an API score of 769. [2] [edit] Extracurricular activitiesTerra nova has an award winning marching band, who won 1st place in their division at the Foothill band review in 2007 and 2009. The marching band also received sweepstakes at the 2008 and 2009 fog festivals. Terra Nova's student-run newspaper is the Terra Nova Times. Terra Nova also has a team on the Bay Area's Quiz Kids show. Terra Nova plays a wide variety of sports, including football, baseball, cheerleading, badminton, cross country, tennis, track and field, water polo, swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. Terra Nova is 2006 Sophomore Football PAL Bay Division Champions led by star player Drew Macy. The drama department performs murder mysteries every year. [edit] Organizations2006-2007
