[edit] P300/CBP

As P300/CBP does not directly bind DNA, by definition it is not a transcription factor. Instead, it is properly classified as a transcription coregulator or more specifically a coacivator. Therefore I think P300/CBP should be removed from the Transcription factors nav box. I have created a new Nav box Template:Transcription coregulators‎ which includes P300/CBP. But it doesn't as yet contain enough links to existing Wiki pages to be worthwhile. I will work on creating some new pages. Boghog2 16:33, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good to me - I have removed it. --Arcadian 22:15, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] B3

Hi, has B3 DNA-binding domain be placed in this Transcription factors template? Redeemer079 (talk) 17:25, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I just added B3 to group 0.5 based on the classification used in the transfac database (see section 0.5.3 at the very bottom of the web page). I hope this classification is reasonable. If not, please let me know. Also thanks for adding information to WP about plant transcription factors. The template currently is heavily biased towards mammalian TFs. It is good to balance it out with some plant proteins. Boghog2 (talk) 18:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. It seems very reasonable to put domains Ap2, B3 in one 0.5 group. As far as I know, transcription factor RAV1 contains both of them. Redeemer079 (talk) 18:57, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
