[edit] Compressing this template

Would anyone mind if I replace this template with a compressed version. See, for example, the difference between Template:Places_in_Bedfordshire and this version. The idea is that on a given athlete's page, the template would show the other members of the relay team with links to a page for a member of the previous and next couple of gold medal teams. For example, from Ray Armstead's page (or any other member of the 1984 gold medal team) the template might look like:

Olympic champions in men's 4x400 m relay
<< 1976 | 1980 | 1984 United States Sunder Nix, Ray Armstead, Alonzo Babers, Antonio McKay | 1988 | 1992 >>

with the reference in the source looking like

{{Footer Olympic Champions 4x400 m Men|1984}}

I don't think maintenance of such a template would not be particularly more difficult than maintenance of the existing template. Comments? -- Rick Block (talk) 03:04, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I've updated the template and all the references (added the year). -- Rick Block (talk) 03:53, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
No objection at all. The scroll bar version is much more navigable and should find lots of other applications. -hydnjo talk 18:36, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] USA DQ 2000?

I thought this never actually happened, although it was discussed. Where is the citation that tells us that Nigeria are the 2000 olympic gold medalists? David D. (Talk) 15:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

OK I just saw this link in the edit summary: http://www2.iaaf.org/OLY00/results/data/M/4X4/Rf.html
However, the Johnson page still has him as the winner of 4x400. I assume this is now incorrect. I think he was allowed to keep his medal, which made me think the US was not DQ'ed, but was Johnson allowed to keep the title too? It wpould seem if there is an official DQ then the Johnson article should not have him as the 2000 gold medalist. Does anyone know the argeement that the IOC made with Johnson? David D. (Talk) 15:46, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] template format

The template was recently converted to the generic navbox template. I don't really care that much, but I prefer either the previous scrollable navigation bar or something like the current version of Template:Footer Olympic Champions 4x100 m Men. Any other opinions on this? -- Rick Block (talk) 00:03, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nigeria?

In the Sydney Olympics, Nigeria didn't win the gold. The US did. The Hemogoblin (talk) 04:18, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Did you see this link above? http://www2.iaaf.org/OLY00/results/data/M/4X4/Rf.html David D. (Talk) 06:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
