[edit] New relavent templates created

Hi. Please take a look at {{Expand-topic}} and {{Interwiki-expand}}, and improve them if nessecary, and include in relavent see alsos and categories if possible. Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 17:46, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Question about Template:Interwiki-expand. This template could be put on a featured article on en.wiki but where a lot of the interwiki's are not in such a good state? If so, this seems like a really bad idea. Garion96 (talk) 20:31, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi. In that case the tag should go on the talkpage of the article rather than the main article? Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 23:53, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Improve this article or section

{{editprotected}} The template's "improve this article or section" soft links to the Expansion disambiguous page and should be delinked in the template. -- Suntag 20:03, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

X mark.svgN Not done Sorry; I don't understand the request. The words "improve this article or section" will link to whichever page the template is used on, not to the Expand article. - Rjd0060 (talk) 04:15, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed wording change

I'd like to propose a change in the wording of {{Expand}}.

Currently, the wording says "Please help improve this article or section by expanding it." Yet {{Expand}} is generally only used for whole articles. We have {{Expand-section}} for sections of articles. Indicating that {{Expand}} can be used on sections does only two things - 1) makes {{Expand-section}} redundant, and 2) makes for problems with the idea that expand and stub templates cannot work together. It makes sense for an article to be a stub and have one section in dire need of expansion - that is why stub and expand-section templates can go together. Allowing {{Expand}} to do the same work as {{Expand-section}} makes it awkward when the article is a stub, and makes it impossible to use a bot to remove expand templates used on articles which also have stub templates.

Because of these two problems, I'd like to propose that the words "...or section..." be removed from the template. That will keep {{Expand}} and {{Expand-section}} from impinging on each other's roles, and make the usage of each more clear-cut. Grutness...wha? 05:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} Agreed. This has sat for months without opposition, so tagging for editprotected. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 17:41, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} Disagree. I think the "section" wording should be enabled/disabled using a parameter named "section", like {{unreferenced}} or {{refimprove}}. (Additionally, the minimized or "small" state could in theory also be enabled/disabled using a parameter.) SharkD (talk) 04:21, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Declined for now. Needs consensus and needs to be way more specific. Garion96 (talk) 07:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
{{Expand|section}} already gives a section-specific notice. I agree that the small code should be folded back in here, but that's not a trivial change. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 14:03, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I didn't see that. Thanks. SharkD (talk) 16:33, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Propagates categories?

Articles featuring this template should not be placed in the category Category:Article message boxes to which this template itself belongs, should they? I notice that does happen, for example at Template:George A. Smathers Libraries. Classical geographer (talk) 12:45, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
