[edit] British India

There was no state called India before 1947, the correct term is British India and is also labeled as such in other places in this template, can we please leave the template in it's correct form.Khokhar (talk) 19:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

The map of British India 1947 is wrong. It shows Nepal as a part of British India. Nepal has been a sovereign state for more than 2066 years ruled by Kings. The Kiratis ruled during the 7th century, followed by the Licchavis in 300 AD, the Thakuris in 600s, the Mallas in 1200s, and by the Shahs in 1768 till 2008. All this while, Nepal was never under any foreign dominance. It has never been a part of India or colonial India. The yellow tint on Nepal on the map is wrongly coded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Atullbj (talkcontribs) 04:07, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

There has never been a single state covering all of India, not under any name. "Indian Empire" or "British Raj" refers to those parts under British rule, while there was a considerable portion of princely states. "Bharat Mata" was an ideal pushed by Gandhi, but he failed in the end, and India was partitioned. --dab (𒁳) 09:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
