[edit] Ethical challenges to autism treatmentJust one suggestion: I'm not sure the ethical challenges to autism treatment article should be included in the template. Even though the article does discuss views in opposition to the ethical challenges it still seems like an autism rights movement issue, not a pro-cure issue. It is possible for a pro-cure advocate to criticize the ethics of autism therapies but that is not discussed in the article since I have not seen any references of pro-cure ethical criticisms. I guess if references to pro-cure ethical criticisms of autism treatment can be found, then it might be appropriate to include ethical challenges to autism treatment in the pro-cure template, but otherwise I think the ethical challenges to autism treatment article kind of seems out of place in the template. [edit] ASA not curebie... generally not at least. They should be neutral. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.166.146.68 (talk) 18:29, 12 January 2008 (UTC) [edit] Skiping ,Jumping Jacks and Hip defectsLost in the pages of old Autism and found online in a mini group of older highfunctioning Autistic people are a sub group of Autistic people that can't run skip or do jumping jacks. 30,40- 50 years into life its now aparant why this group could never do those things- there was a birth defect that was never felt, our legs were the same length but our hip joints were mis aligned. Popular Autism Theory would be were to retarded. Factor in the Autism Pain Tolerance and that is the reason no one ever felt the pain to tell us or our doctors "our hips should hurt". This group of known people was at least 14 (1999) people who met on line from various chat rooms. Most people were older pre Rain Man Autistic people and did a very good attempt at a traditional school experience. Most report Skiping in Kindergarten was our first clue things were "off" soon the discovery no one could run fast with out falling over- Those to medical doctor (1960's) got a nothing wrong physically diagnosis. Some had their legs measured and joint motion checked. In gym class typically the Jumping Jack were required and could not be preformed. All of this sub group reports special jumping jack lessions from gym teachers. Later in life some found their army marching experience also flawed as well. All were kicked out of the army for some issue related to the marching. Finally, about 30 or 40 years of age espcially those working a standing or walking jobs experienced their first signs of hip pain. The hip pain is very wild and most people in this sub group discovered via x-rays the hip joints are not equal. Typically the hip joints side to side are off about 1/4 inch. This problems is often identified by looking at the shoe soles and the short side shoe is often wore out and the regualar side shoe is fine. This uneven wear patter is hallmark. A lite term cure for thes autistic people is builing up one shoe on their short sides anywhere from 5-16" of and inch to 3/8" of an inch. Most report relief and can finally walk again with out much pain. Diagnosing doctors are amazed at the amount of hip damage and the fact it was lifelong and never felt. The sub group of both men and women report the short side on either their left of right side. The effect and the results are the same no matther which side has the defective hip joint. Some modern era parents of Autisitc childern report similar issues with their autistic children. One for sure reported to this group she had discovered the uneven wear pattern in her childs shoes.--Rich 2300 (talk) 21:10, 18 May 2009 (UTC) [edit] Autism Pain ToleranceLong ago in autism prior to Rain Man era old Autism Borchures noted the Autism Pain Tolerance. Old Autism Borchures often noted non-cuddly babies that would not move to get comfortable in mothers arms when held. Older Autism booklets told stories of people falling out of trees and getting right up walking away and they are just sore- when in reality they were walking on broken bones. Autistic people mostly older ones in real life report walking on Broken Bones after a car accident for example. Dislocated elbows after a motor bike crash are not painful, injuries after a industrail mishap are not presenting as serious. Often long term care or constant minor pain is exposed via X ray- sometimes a fromer serious condition like a broken bone that healed on its own is discovered. Psyho somatic injuries (imagined injuries) are often assumed to be the real cause of an injury. Medical Science doesn't know there is a sub group of people that only feel little in the terms of pain. A logical assumption is everyone feels pain. Generally speaking autistic people that have been seriously injured have discovered the autism Pain Tolerance is limited to 8-9-and 10 on the 1-10 pain scale. Anything below 8 is never felt. In autism's banished book Autism Pre Rain Man Autism author Rich Shull describes a test for the Pain Tolerance. The test consists of a series of bolts of all grades. The autistic person is given a wrench and told to tighten them tight. The test predicts the cheaper grade bolts will break with out so much as a grimce from the Autistic person. The final part of the test uses a torque wrench and it is set to "give away" at a torque that is too light to register with most autistic people but would be felt by the normal population. Real life autism pain tolerance has allowed simple minor common aliments like lactose intolerance and asthema attacks to present as serious when in reality they are late sage events allowed to foster. Autistic people with the stomach issues might only have simple lactose intolerance that presets as wild. Modern Autism has gone to great lengths to dis credit the Pain Tolerance as impossible. Many in the real world Autistic people report their very first pain event in their lives as an abcessed tooth that is only felt 10 minutes before it breaks. After it breaks the pain is gone instantly and they can even drink cold water and not feel it. Autistic people have been documneted Running long races (Alan Turing (1912-1954) with out any pain or having the "wall" effect most runners feel. Please link to the Blog Pre Rain Man Autism and search the blog for "x rays" and see the needle in an autisitc person's foot that was never felt despite a job that required standing and walking. This was well documented in old autism brochures. Older Autism people today often go directly to the salt shaker for a dose of salt. The need for salt has been life long and sometimes appears to be related to the 'lack of eye contact' eye thoughts. It seems having deep thoughts like those really requires salt. Modern Autism parents are often reported to wonder why their autistic child wants so much salt. Older autistic people mostly ignored in modern autism circles are not shocked by this need for salt. The need comes in spurts and urges. All report eating a very good balenced diet otherwise. --Rich 2300 (talk) 22:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC) |
