Usage

To add an article to the list, simply add the template to the talk page of the article with the following parameters:

 {{Physics|class=|importance=}}
  • class: Options are FA, FL, A, GA, B, C, Start, Stub, List, Template, Category, Disambig, Portal, Project, Redirect, Image and NA. If blank, this will default to Unassessed.
Descriptions of the options can be found at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment. NA is "not applicable".
  • importance: Options are Top, High, Mid, Low, and NA. If blank, this will default as Unrated priority. NA is "not applicable".
This is the importance within physics according to this scale. WikiProject Physics participants have elaborated guidelines to help gauge the importance of an article within physics.

Additional options are available if you have a need for them. Here are the full options:

 {{Physics|class=|importance=|needs-infobox=|attention=|auto=}}
  • attention: Answer yes if the page needs immediate attention, otherwise remove this line.
  • needs-infobox: Answer yes if the article needs an infobox, otherwise remove this line.
  • auto: This parameter indicate that a bot assessed the article as a stub. If you see a message that a bot auto-assessed the article, please take the time to confirm the assessment and remove |auto=yes.

How to

Tag an article

Just add {{physics|class=|importance=}} to the article's talk page. Please take the time to choose a class and an importance rating.

Rate an article with a class

... that's already tagged with {{physics}}

Edit the talk page, change the |class= parameter to the appropriate rating, or add |class= if not already present, and save the page.

See above for available ratings. Please leave comments about how to improve the article on the /Comments page linked to in the template once you've rated the article, or on the article's talk page.

... that isn't

Edit the talk page, add {{physics|class=|importance=}} and change the class parameter as appropriate, before saving the page.

See above for available ratings. Please leave comments about how to improve the article on the /Comments page linked to in the template once you've rated the article, or on the article's talk page.

Leave comments to explain the rating

If comments haven't already been left, then click on the red /Comments list and leave your comments on that page. If they have already been left, then un-hide the comments using the "Show" link on the right of the template, then click on the "edit" link.

Please note that if you put headers on the comments page (i.e. == Text ==, then the table of contents will get moved into the comments box also. You can avoid this by putting __TOC__ just below the physics template call on the article's talk page.

Rate an article with an importance

... that's already tagged with {{physics}}

Edit the talk page, change the |importance= parameter to the appropriate rating, or add |importance= if not already present, and save the page.

See above for available ratings. Please leave comments about why you changed the ratings on the /Comments page linked to in the template once you've rated the article, or on the article's talk page.

... that isn't

Edit the talk page, add {{physics|class=|importance=}} and change the importance parameter as appropriate, and save the page.

See above for available ratings. Please leave comments about why you choose the ratings on the /Comments page linked to in the template once you've rated the article, or on the article's talk page.

Agree that the stub rating is appropriate where the page was auto-tagged

Remove the |auto=yes parameter from within {{physics |class=Stub |importance= |auto=yes}}. Please also update the importance tag if appropriate.
