[edit] Playing career

Glass moved from his hometown Craven, Saskatchewan, at 16 years old to play Junior A in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL) with the Nanaimo Clippers.[1] He was drafted 265th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers out of junior. The following season, in 2003–04, he joined the college hockey ranks with Dartmouth College of the NCAA, where he played a full four years, captaining the team as a senior.[1]

Upon the completion of his fourth and final college year, graduating from Dartmouth with a history degree,[2] Glass played four games in the AHL with the Panthers' minor league affiliate, the Rochester Americans, making his professional hockey debut. He then split the 2007–08 season between the Americans and the Panthers, playing 41 games in his rookie NHL season. He played his first NHL game on November 12, 2007 versus the Carolina Hurricanes[3] and scored his first NHL goal on January 22, 2008 against Ray Emery of the Ottawa Senators.[citation needed]

Assigned to the Americans to start the 2008–09 season, Glass injured his left ear early in the campaign with a torn ear drum, as well as a damaged labrum and bursa sac.[1] He managed to play 44 games with Rochester while also being called up for three games with Florida, but was not tendered a fying offer in the off-season by the Panthers.

Becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2009, Glass was signed by the Vancouver Canucks to a two-way deal worth $500,000 at the NHL level.[1] With early injuries to Canucks forwards during training camp, Glass made the lineup for the start of the season as the thirteenth forward.[4] He played his first game with the Canucks on October 7 in a 7–1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.[2]

After 10 games with the Canucks, Glass scored his first goal with the Canucks against the Colorado Avalanche.
