Tamara Lorincz is a Canadian politician and peace activist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.[1][2] She is best known for being a co-recipient of 2005 International Peace in Space Award.[3] She is also the spokeswoman for the Halifax Peace Coalition.[4] She was the New Democratic Party candidate for Halifax West in the 40th Canadian federal election.

Tamara Lorincz (née Modry) was born March 17, 1969 in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent most of her childhood in Montreal, Quebec and Palo Alto, California before moving back to Edmonton in her early teens. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria including a minor in French Studies. In 2003, she earned a Masters of Business Administration and a Law Degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax.
In addition to English, Lorincz can speak French and Japanese.
