[edit] Article problemsI would suggest that this is too pro-sophrology, with little or any criticism. I also question the "many years of scientific research" claim. Wee Jimmy (talk) 21:19, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Notability is obvious in my view, I live with a professional practicionner of sophrology. There are over 30 schools in Europe where one can learn sophrology of the Caycedian trend, see the list at http://www.sophrologie-caycedienne.com/nou/web/index.asp?lang=1. The following independent sources discuss sophrology: A large community web site: http://www.aufeminin.com/world/communaute/search/search.asp?r=&t=&kw=sophrologie Another: http://www.doctissimo.fr/html/forme/mag_2000/mag0922/fo_2319_sophrologie.htm A popular magazine: http://www.psychologies.com/recherche/tag/sophrologie Here is the French Ministry of Health answer to a French Member of the Parliament saying that Sophrology is not officially recognized because "no serious study has been made": http://questions.assemblee-nationale.fr/q12/12-39230QE.htm . Other problems that I find significant and worth mentioning in the article: - Sophrology is fragmented in different trends (see e.g. http://ecoles.sophrologues.fr/07-formation-sophrologue.html#caycedo) - Some practicionners of sophrology also use other methods that are used by sects for mental manipulation. The famous (in France) hypnologue - sophrologue Alban de Jong examplifies the responsibility and corruption issues that come with Power. - The titles used by sophrology practitionners are not officially recognized and often confusing. For example "Master" or "Clinician". Minh Ha-Duong, 3/10/2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.224.199.210 (talk) 08:37, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Sophrology is used in the majority of Maternity Hospitals in France http://www.doctissimo.fr/html/grossesse/accouchement/gr_4241_sophrologie.htm It is also used in sport eg http://www.medecinedusportconseils.com/2009/11/15/sophrologie-sport-opimiser-les-reflexes/. There is a serious lack of information in English, but I understand that certain books are currently being either translated, or written at the moment. The following is from the official site, and does give some information http://www.sophrologie-caycedienne.com/nou/web/code_english.pdf In this there is an explanation of the difference between Sophrology and Caycedian Sophrology®, and it is this that has given rise to some of the issues raised above, regarding the use of something called Sophrology by certain sects. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.93.230.216 (talk) 20:07, 18 November 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||
