This reads like a 5th grader's homework assignment. "Under the watchful eye of manager Joe Torre"? Are you kidding? Also, the adjective "spotty," while acceptable for conversation, is not acceptable for formal writing. I know, I should edit it if I don't like it, but I just prefer to be a critic. Agreed. "Despite hitting an inside-the-park home run on August 3 and providing not only smooth defense at first base but also key RBIs and a professional air to the Dodgers' clubhouse, by mid-September Ventura was unwittingly caught in a power struggle. Tracy had been feuding with the team's GM, ex-Sox man Dan Evans, for weeks before Evans acquired Ventura — what better way to show displeasure with Evans than to essentially bench his latest find? For 16 straight games, Ventura's contributions were limited to an occasional at-bat or ninth-inning defensive cameo. Once news of the feud leaked out thanks to reporter Bob Nightengale, he was given more playing time, but the damage was done." Seriously, this was clearly written by some insane Robin Ventura fanboy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Theistheman (talk • contribs) 04:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Nolan Ryan beatdownAs good as he was, and as good a guy, the first thing I'll always remember him for is being put in a headlock and pummeled by Nolan Ryan, a man 20 years older than him. I remember watching it and just falling out. And this comes from a guy who gained a lot of admiration for him for all the reasons mentioned in this excellent bio, and a Dodger fan who always felt good with Robin coming to the plate in clutch situations during that last year. -Wikitoddia 03:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
