this aritcle need to sources the bills themselves, not one news article will simple but in the bill number or vote number. its as if they dont want us to have access to the origional source

The financial crisis is affecting more than just banks. Couldn't we have a retailer/other business section that also face the same fate as the banks.

As this 'crisis' appears to be going well into 2009 and maybe further, I would like to suggest changing the name to "Bankrupt or Acquired banks since 2007". What does everyone else think. --Sweet Pea 1981 (talk) 21:30, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I agree a name change is in order, but these suggestions would make the list inclusive of all future time. This list is meant to include only events in the current financial crisis, not the infinite future. What would be the right name? We don't have a name for the crisis yet as shown by other articles and categories here. Hmains (talk) 03:22, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Why shouldn't we include all of the banks? Any failed bank should qualify to be in an encyclopedia as they are major events. If it comes down to it, the article can always be split up (Domestic and Foreign, Banks closed by the FDIC and NCUA, etc.) --Sweet Pea 1981 (talk) 03:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

As soon as this is done, someone will say 2007 is just an artibrary date and the article should thereby be deleted or the article will have to go back to the beginning of banks. This all completely negates the purpose of this article which deals with the current financial crises. If you want a forever article, create a different article, don't destroy this one. As I see it, when the crisis comes to an end, and/or acquires a more generally accepted name, as it surely will, the title can be moved again to reflect this. For now, some version of the current suggestions seems best - I agree about retaining the subject as is. Johnbod (talk) 04:01, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

I suggest that, after the first failure in 2009 is added to this article, the title be changed to List of bankrupt or acquired banks during the financial crisis of 2007–2009 so the title will continue to match the contents. Hmains (talk) 19:02, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

on the other hand, it could be renamed to List of bankrupt or acquired banks in the late 2000s financial crisis to match the just renamed article Late 2000s recession Hmains (talk) 05:14, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

The latest credit union closing notice by NCUA says that 14 have been closed in 2008. I have only been able to find 13, not 14, from the less than helpful NCUA web site. Anyone know what the 14th closed credit union is? Hmains (talk) 19:55, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
