[edit] Name is Tambur, not Tambut

I didn't understand why the name was changed from Tambur to Tambut?.. The name actually can be rendered from Armenian as either Tambur or Dampur, depending whether it is western or eastern dialect, however there is no t at the end, just r. Avetik 12:58, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Revision Proposed

The article misses an objective treatment of the topic of Hemşin's history.
This issue (History of Hemşin) is currently under development and discussion under the "Hamshenis" entry, with the contributions of mostly the same editors. Due to practical reasons, I propose that the "History" section of this entry be deleted (or directed to the "Hamshenis" entry ) until a consensus is achieved. - Omer182 (talk) 11:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Omer 182, I agree with your proposal. By the way, your phrase "misses an objective treatment" seems to be a too mild in conjunction with the extremely biased presentation

I had earlier indicated that the topic of history of Hemşin is under development and discussion (for about a year now) in the "Hemshin peoples" entry. In my opinion there is no need to discuss the same topic under two different entries, and thus had proposed that the history section in this entry be deleted for the time being.

However I observe that some contributors do want to keep the history section. Thus, I have placed a more detailed version for the section, touching (and giving more details) on each aspect touched by the previous version. This version is the one that was developed in the Hemshin Peoples entry.

I have not included the statement "Hemşin, once a place of some note in the ancient Armenian province of Daik[1] " as this info is in my opinion is in contradiction to all other available info. Is the reference given includes a statement that Hemşin was a part of Daik?

The only other missing point in the version I placed (that exists in the previous one) is the Armenian Genocide issue. None of the given references in the previous version mentiones Armenian Genocide in the context of Hemşin.Omer182 (talk) 15:51, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

please see: a Follow-up on this issue, thanks! —-— .:Seth_Nimbosa:. (talkcontribs) 11:29, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Map

I changed the caption of the map in the infobox; it said "Location of Hemşin Province within Turkey", when it doesn't even show Hemşin's location, it's just a map showing where Rize Province is. I think it would be better if Hemşin's position were shown à la Alanya. But what are Hemşin's coordinates? 82.35.130.44 (talk) 20:35, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] content swap between Hemshin peoples and Hemşin

in light of copy-paste redundant material present in BOTH articles Hemshin peoples and Hemşin,
I therefore propose a content swap between the two, and the Main article will be linked to the pertinent portion instead:

  • for example, the History section has exactly the same material overlapping which I have isolated and tagged for merge, the surviving article will be Hemşin because the common topic discussed all happened in the past in a place now called Hemşin in Turkey;
  • while the formerly "Groups" section I have edited to Hemşin#Demographics and the surviving Main article will be in Hemshin peoples because they are discussing the people originally from Hemshin but has since scattered into adjacent areas due to centuries of immigration and emigration;
  • a small body of text will be maintained but the
{{Main article: Article}} template will point to the destination of erstwhile redundant materials

I will be accomplishing this in the next few days —-— .:Seth_Nimbosa:. (talkcontribs) 11:29, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
