[edit] Sports

The paragraph about soccer needs extensive work. Anyone willing to help? Aside from scrapping major portions I'm not sure where to take it to make it readable. (Studiofox (talk) 07:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC))

[edit] US Census 2006 Estimates

Why are we not using the most recent 2006 Census estimates here. At a population of 170,617, Aurora city is clearly larger then the population of Rockford at 155,138. This is published data by the United States Census with updated numbers for the 2005 mini update. Here is an internal link to justify my changes to this article List of United States cities by population. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkriegls (talkcontribs) 19:22, 6 October 2007 (UTC) This looks good to meDkriegls 20:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Centralia?

The article states that Centralia, Illinois is also in four counties. The article there only lists two (Marion and Clinton), though Mapquest appears to show a section also in Washington County. The only possible fourth county would be Jefferson, but at least on the map it looks like the southern end of Centralia ends at the county line. Anbyone know anything about this?

The State of Illinois gives sales tax rates for Centralia in each of the four counties listed above: Marion, Clinton, Washington and Jefferson. --JohnDBuell 12:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Templates

Good lord, do we NEED three large templates at the end of the article? --JohnDBuell 22:36, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

  • We certainly don't need the DuPage template, since 77% of the population lives in Kane. 68.218.142.136 03:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Until Aurora stops being in parts of DuPage County, yes we do. (Studiofox (talk) 07:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)) I agree... We might as well have the four since it's apparently one of the few cities that actually resides in so many counties. EarnestyEternity (talk) 04:05, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Four Counties

I'd like to see a historical explanation. Aurora was originally only in Kane County, and during the late 60s I believe expanded, but not to DuPage first. How did this happen, and what is the relationship like between the city and the various counties?

I'm not sure that's accurate. I've been trying to see if there's something online, but there isn't really. However, I've always been told Aurora spread into DuPage County in the late 1960s/early 1970s (and when Fox Valley Mall was first proposed, the Aurora/Naperville boundary was set at Route 59, where it more or less remains), then Will (stretching down Eola Road), then Kendall (expanding southwest along Ogden). Part of this can be inferred from the map of City Wards, but I still need independent verification. --JohnDBuell 04:17, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notable residents

I see three people that have red names in this area. Unless they have Wiki entries, I suggest deleting them. Personally, I have no idea who they are. I got by the saying "If they are notable, they would have a wiki entry". So the suggestion is we either delete them, or create entries on them.--Kranar drogin 05:02, 18 March 2007 (UTC) The idea that someone is not notable just because they have no wiki is ridiculous in my opinion --Agreed, however, what shouldn't be added are links to Playboy after "adult models" within the Notable residents section. (Studiofox (talk) 07:47, 26 March 2008 (UTC))

The original idea of including an article, at least a stub, for people in the Notable Residents section was a good one. As an outsider I have to wonder why a public relations person is on the list. As I said, just a small blurb within a wiki article would suffice. If you are reading these and editing the Aurora article you already know how easy it is to start a stub. Pknkly (talk) 06:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Other Neighborhoods

I live in the Wheatlands township in Aurora...does that count as a neighborhood? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.132.39 (talk) 04:28, 28 December 2007 (UTC) No, sorry. (Studiofox (talk) 05:54, 26 March 2008 (UTC)) On that note, subdivision names aren't neighborhoods either and should be deleted. (Studiofox (talk) 07:58, 26 March 2008 (UTC)) Absolutely not. I actually think the neighborhoods section, is a good idea, though needs to be cleaned up significantly. A map or something more specific about their locations would be helpful. EarnestyEternity (talk) 04:04, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Regions of Aurora

Under the heading of Regions of Aurora, someone needs to delete the entry at the very end that is rife with spelling and grammatical errors, and has a tone that is not befitting the article, nor does it belong under that heading. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.20.25.45 (talk) 05:17, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

I've been going through cleaning up some things with this article. However, it still needs some major work. I'll add a "To Do" list here shortly. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 18:46, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] History of Entertainment section

I moved this to a less prominent position in the article. I felt the placement seemed to suggest that Aurora is FAMOUS for all its theaters. While an interesting item, it is hardly in the forefront of the city's reputation at this point (other than the Paramount, of course) While it did work nicely following the "history" section, I think it works well under the notable buildings area, too. Does anyone object? -Cbradshaw (talk) 06:16, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Section for "Culture"

Perhaps a section entitled Culture would help gather some of the items (e.g., museums, entertainment, festivals, etc.) to a single area in the article. The museum, festival, etc. could be subsections of Culture. A lead paragraph highlighting and making a statement about Aurora's cultural environment could start the subsections. BTW - I hope someone mentions your annual blues festival. You've had some of great blues stars out your way. Good luck with the clean up. Pknkly (talk) 06:44, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Article needs references badly

So many of the sections in this article are unreferenced, and I deleted some NPOV comments in the neigborhoods sections. Clean-up needed badly! --Funandtrvl (talk) 20:07, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
