[edit] Any Errors or Violations

I can't find any, but if there are any violations or errors in the article, change them and/or notify me. User talk:AQWIKI 05:06 PM, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MMO or MMORPG?

On the site it says that it is an MMO, but in the article it refers to it as an MMORPG. Is this accurate? Quadrantz (talk) 23:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

MMO is an abbreviation for MMORPG. MMORPG actually stands for Massive (sometimes Massively) Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. MMO means Massive (or Massively) Multiplayer Online, and can refer to all multiplayer online games, not just RPGs (Role-Playing Games). So it's technically both an MMO and an MMORPG. I've used MMORPG in the article because I think it makes a little more sense. Alinnisawest (talk) 02:17, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
How about Massive Multiplayer Online Game? I doubt you can interact with other player in-game, like the first three. Captain | contribs 13:38, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

You can, in fact, interact with other players in it.Gravelz (talk) 15:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

True. But all three terms (MMO, MMOG, and MMORPG) are often used to describe the same thing- a multiplayer, online game. And in AQW, you can interact with other people at the same time. And it even works on dial-up! AE is amazing! Alinnisawest (talk) 16:10, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Then it's MMORPG. Captain | contribs 06:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, there's no question that its an MMORPG. MMO indicates that it is massively multi player (because it has interaction between players.) Its an RPG just like their earlier three games on top of that, and therefore is an MMORPG.

[edit] Sir Ver

I think it would be worthwhile to mention the sever AQW runs on -- nicknamed Sir Ver, for those of you who didn't know. "Sir Ver" is in a sense a mascot for the game, was named by the players, and has been given a picture. I think at least a mention and perhaps his picture deserve a place somewhere in the article. EmilyELewis (talk) 19:53, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, he's more of an in-joke than an integral part of the game. Wikipedia is for information, not stuff that's only important to players of the game. In the AE Wikiproject, we generally go by the Video Games WikiProject article guidelines, although I think Eruhildo was going to write some up specifically for our Wikiproject. So they basically say that if it's only important or informational to players of the game, it shouldn't be included. Alinnisawest (talk) 04:46, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that's a minor thing that only matters to players. The VG MOS is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines by the way. The guidelines I'm working on will summarize those and have ones that are more specific to our project. --Eruhildo (talk) 04:55, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gallery

Lets get rid of the gallery ASAP. Those images that add to the article should be merged into the prose and those that do not should be marked for deletion. --Eruhildo (talk) 23:41, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I agree. I will re-write the article once it goes into progressive beta testing so the article isn't all about the tests when it should be about gameplay.
ɫ§Veonyx§ɫ ~Talk to Me~~My Acts~ 03:54, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Added a rough draft for gameplay. Feel free to sharpen it up.
ɫ§Veonyx§ɫ ~Talk to Me~~My Acts~ 04:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Looks pretty good so far. Could use a little more out-of-universe perspective and a bit of explaining about experience points and gold and such, but it's a good solid start. --Eruhildo (talk) 06:08, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. The gallery really adds nothing to the article. PacificJon (talk) 21:38, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Testing Section

I've rewritten and removed a great deal of the section on the testing. It was way too long, way too complicated, and obviously had simply been added to as testing went along. Updates will likely be farther apart now that it's in beta, so we can rewrite it gradually as new developments are revealed. It may still need some paring down, but I hope it's better than before. --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 21:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Looks good. Thanks for staying on that. --Eruhildo (talk) 06:04, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I like it. Good job PacificJon (talk) 15:45, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What NOT to Put in the Article (IMO)

Couple of things here... for starters, I really don't think a list of classes belongs in the article yet. (Whether or not it belongs in ANY article is a whole different story...) Perhaps, when the article is more developed and contains more information about gameplay (after the full release, of course), the list could be added back in, but for now I think it's fine to leave it without it.

Second, dates of original testing, secondary testing (after the Great Rhubarb Incident), other testing, special testing, beta testing, progressive beta testing, and whatever other kind of testing you can think of also probably shouldn't be put in the article. Right now, I agree that we should include the dates of original alpha testing (June 2) and original beta testing (August 18), but I don't think any other dates are important. Dates of when it will be fully released should definitely not be put in the article, because they're pure speculation.

Just wanted to lay out my feelings on this article, and explain any actions I may have taken or may take in the future. --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 19:28, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I agree with that, though if an official release date is announced, it should appear in the article. Also, what's the difference between Progressive Beta testing and Beta testing? The article had two different dates for those before. --Eruhildo (talk) 17:25, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I have no idea. I tried going through the DNs to find out, but I really didn't find any difference, so I removed it. (I think I got all the references straightened out, anyway!) --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 18:05, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and Gamma release is planned for early October. I presume that's the final release (and somebody added it to the article as such), but we can't really say for certain, so I reworded it a bit, although it's rather clumsy. --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 01:46, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

Since someone's gone on a rampage and tagged just about every page about web-based games (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(toys_and_games)#Video_games for context, and note that someone's decided that Web games as a category are not notable) I thought I'd start off some discussion about why AQWorlds is notable.

I seem to recall reading somewhere in the release notes for AQWorlds that it is in fact the first Flash-based true MMORPG, which ought to be pretty darn notable. Does someone have source for this?

[edit] Classes

Should I add the different classes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Foxcow (talkcontribs) 16:10, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Prana and Apana are two complementary types of movement coming from the core of the body. Prana is the upward, expanding, blossoming movement characteristic of inhaling. It is said to be centered in the Anahata Cakra (Heart center). Apana is the downward, contracting, rooting movement characteristic of exhaling. It is based at the center of the perineum, the Muladhara Cakra. Apana is said to tether Prana. Yoga begins by consciously uniting Prana and Apana, to feel their actions within each other. Prana is breath, life force, inner breath; prana is the substratum of perception. Prana is the substratum of thought, or chita. It is the way that perception is organized into patterns and it is only through patterns and organization that you know something, that you are consciously aware of something. So prana becomes intelligence, which is called budhi in Sanskrit, which comes from the root bud, which means to wake up and so it is the energy of waking up. What does waking up mean, but coming out of a state of mind that is like a dream. And so awakening or waking up is coming out of a framework of awareness like fantasy. Richard Freeman has studied and lived for nearly nine years in India and Asia, and is an avid student of both Western and Eastern philosophy, as well as Sanskrit. He incorporates various traditions into the Ashtanga Yoga practice taught by his principal teacher, K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. His background includes Bhakti and ...
