[edit] Unreferenced TagI have tagged this article as unreferenced. It is a good idea to cite references used, wit hin-line referencing, to show other en.Wikipedia users where a fact can be verified, or else it may be chalenged or Removed. Philip.t.day (talk) 19:28, 17 June 2008 (UTC) I've just watched "FaithTalk" and was invited to respond to complex, complicated issues within the Catholic Church. I am a Catholic convert of over 40 years. I'm a husband (45 years), a father (8), a grandfather (9), and a great grandfather (4) And I am "Simple Minded." First, let's get rid of the world. It's gone. Now there is just you and me, I and you. Although we have professed all our lives to knowing each other well, it is obvious now in this immediate, particular, and awkward circumstance that we don't know each other at all. We are strangers with no peer support. We are absolutely alone together, just me and you. Without God in our hearts and minds, what are we going to do? We are going to intently watch one another to insure that the other doesn't do something "wrong." We strongly suspect that if we took our eyes off the other for just the briefest of time, somehing would be pulled over on us, we would be taken advantage of. Our entire social existence would be "founded" on mistrust. But to have God in our heart and mind, this is exactly what we must do, take our eyes and attention off of one another (scarey, isn't it?). I must stop watching you as if you want hurt me in some way, and you are going to need to stop watching me as if I want to hurt you in some way. This is the entrance of Trust, when we start relying on God for our well-being instead of our own neurotic, jealous self-vigilance. These are our only choices - to remain fixed on each other - imprisoned by our intense attention - or I can more or less ignore you long enough to learn from God how to be your friend. OK, the world can come back in now. Get it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.124.126.32 (talk) 19:11, 12 September 2008 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||||||||
