[edit] About

After the success of Fluke's album Risotto, Tournier wanted to move to a much darker production style and so Syntax was born. Despite the originality of Syntax's first album, Meccano Mind, the band suffered poor album sales - possibly due to a lack of support from their record label - and a lack of overall recognition and they disbanded in 2004 due to it. A few years later, Mike Tournier & Jan Burton reformed Syntax.[citation needed]

[edit] Meccano Mind

Meccano Mind is a combination of Burton and Tournier's different influences from rock and dance music, resulting in the production of tracks such as "Bliss", which have dark deep basslines along with guitar riffs and other electronic effects, as well as more gentle tracks such as "Message".[citation needed]

The Japanese release of Meccano Mind includes three additional tracks compared to the UK and U.S. releases, entitled "Sexograph", "Woman", and "Love Songs".

[edit] Future

Now reformed, the band is working on their second album, which is set to be released in 2009. Unlike their first album, their second will be released on an independent label.

[edit] Television, film & videogame usage

Syntax's music has been used and highlighted in several television programs, film and videogames, including:
