As a small child, Surveen Chawla wanted to practice medicine, but took up commerce in Class 12 and ended up graduating in arts. She went to Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh and left it after her 1st year to move to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting.

Her family is settled in Sector-34 in Chandigarh. Her father and brother are businessmen.

Surveen made her debut as Charu in the Balaji Telefilms serial Kahiin To Hoga. She then played the role of Kasak in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She also played the lead role in Kaajjal - Sabkki Aankhon Mein Basi, but has now parted ways with the show due to a new storyline.

Surveen was recently seen in the reality dance show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, where she paired up with Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth.^[1] She has also signed a three-film deal with Percept Picture Company.^[2] The first of the three films, titled Carry On Pandu, will see her playing the female lead opposite Ranvir Shorey.^[3]
