A construction superintendent is the contractor’s representative who is responsible for continuous field supervision, coordination, and completion of the work. The construction superintendent "runs" the job site. Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
On larger projects, it is common for most finance-related tasks (especially labor and material cost control) and long-term scheduling to be handled by a project manager, with the superintendent's job limited to running the day-to-day operations on the construction site and controlling the short-term schedule.
