  • This event marked Jesse Ventura's second referee job in a SummerSlam main event. The first was the original held in 1988.
  • Just before the Hardcore title Match "Road Dogg" Jesse James came out. "Y2J" Chris Jericho interrupted and insulted him, but James was victorious in this verbal fight. Afterwards James acted as a commentator during the Hardcore title Match, in which he accompanied Snow and the Bossman through the halls.
