The Subiaco Football Club was incorporated in 1896 establishing its base at a small playing arena within the environs of the Shenton Park Lake. During the Club's embryonic period of its history it played in the "First Rate Juniors" competition from 1896 to 1900 and enjoyed premiership success. In 1901 the Subiaco Football Club joined the then Western Australian State League football competition where it has remained to be an integral part of the State's football history and in the 2000 football season the Club proudly celebrates its Centenary. The history of the Subiaco Football Club reflects the diehard character of people who made Subiaco one of the State's most powerful football clubs and who also made significant contributions to both the development of our State and, closer to home, the Subiaco municipality. It joined the then Western Australian State League competition (known today as the West Australian Football League - WAFL) in 1901. In November 2006, former Fremantle Football Club vice-captain Scott Watters was announced as the new coach for the 2007 season onwards, replacing Peter German.
