Star Circle Quest (SCQ) is a reality-based talent search in where at least 10 teen-aged contestants, called as "Questors", will undergo talent training, physical enhancement and different challenges to test their talent skills. Every week, one will be eliminated and the last Questor who will remain will win as the Grand Questor. Along with this, the Grand Questor will take cash prize and an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN Talent Center, now Star Magic. The show was aired locally thru ABS-CBN and internationally thru The Filipino Channel. The show was mounted to pit against GMA Network's successful realtiy star search program, Starstruck. Ironically in the same venue where Starstruck ended it's very successful 1st. season, but despite the hype SCQ never matched the hysteria brought by StarStruck.
[edit] HistoryIn October that year, ABS-CBN launched the television show Ang TV directed by Johnny Manahan, a semi-gag show that showcased the different talents of the stars of Talent Center. Ang TV became a big hit and produced many mall shows, live concerts and record albums. It became the foundation for the careers of one of today's biggest and brilliant stars like Claudine Barretto, Jolina Magdangal, Rica Peralejo, Angelu de Leon, Geoff Eigenmann, John Prats, Camille Prats, Angelica Panganiban, and many more. After 3 years of star discovery and talent training and success of Ang TV, later in November 1995, ABS-CBN launched the more mature talent search, Star Circle. Star Circle is a regular talent search wherein a group of young actors and actresses will groom to be the best and brightest stars, which comes by batches. [edit] Season Synopses
[edit] 2004: (Season 1)[edit] Star Circle Teen Quest Season 1In 2004, ABS-CBN Talent Center had already produced 11 Star Circle batches which are composed of more than 200 stars. By that year, the talent center is having its audition for Star Circle Batch 12. But after seeing the huge profits that ‘idols’ could rake in, Star Circle changed course and took its new format. From the untelevised regular talent search, Star Circle became a reality-based talent search named as Star Circle Quest or SCQ for short. The show was then hosted by Luis Manzano and Jodi Sta. Maria, while the jury is composed of Boy Abunda, an entertainment writer, TV host and talent manager; Gloria Diaz, an actress and former beauty queen; and Lauren Dyogi, TV director and writer. From an estimated 10 thousands who auditioned, 10 lucky hopefuls made it to the Final 10 or called as the Magic Circle of 10, which is composed of Hero Angeles, Sandara Park, Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo, Melissa Ricks, Neri Naig, Errol Abalayan, Michelle Madrigal, Joseph Bitangcol and Raphael Martinez. [edit] Grand Questors NightThe Grand Questor's night was held in Araneta Coliseum in June 2004. While the Star Circle Kid Quest was held first, the Star Circle Teen Quest started around 9:30 PM. In the Grand Questor's Night, the final five questors shows their talents in acting, singing or dancing to impress the people and the judges to give them a higher score. Sandara Park won again the Voter's choice award but this didn't helped her to become the Grand Questor. Hero Angeles became the Grand Questor by adding the voter's choice and his score from the judges. Roxanne Guinoo won the third place, Joross Gamboa was in the fourth place and Melissa Ricks was in the fifth place. [edit] Star Circle Kid Quest Season 1Star Circle Kid Quest was launched the same day as the teen edition. It was shown to television by combining it to the Star Circle Teen Quest. The show features kids in age of 5 to 9 years old. It was still hosted by Luis Manzano and Jodi Sta. Maria, while the jury is composed of award-winning actress Eula Valdez, veteran actress Maricel Laxa and TV director Rowell Santiago The kids who made it to the "Magic Circle of 10" were Nash Aguas, Sharlene San Pedro, Aaron Junatas, CJ Navato, and Mikylla Ramirez, Jodell Stasic, KC Aboloc, Alex Ramos, Basty Alcances and Celine Lim. [edit] Grand Questors NightThe Grand Questors Night for the Kid Quest was held in Araneta Coliseum on a Saturday of June 2004, around 5:30 PM, with Star Circle Teen Quest after. Nash Aguas became the Grand Questor, making Sharlene San Pedro as the second placer, while Arron Junatas is in third place, CJ Navato in fourth and Mikylla Ramirez in fifth place. [edit] 2004-2005: Star Circle National Teen Quest (Season 2)ABS-CBN came up with a second season of Star Circle Teen Quest, where the auditions were held nationwide and even worldwide making the title as Star Circle National Teen Quest. Luis Manzano and Jodi Sta. Maria still hosted the show, and the same jury (Boy Abunda, Gloria Diaz and Laurenti Dyogi) still guided the finalists throughout the show. Note 1: Jason and Paw have a tie score with 8.29 that's why the judges decided to have a showdown with acting and dancing. Finally the Magic Circle of 5 showcased the numbers they have been rehearsing hard for. Each final questor showed their special talent that night which impressed the jurors as well as the thousands of audiences. Erich Gonzales became the Grand Questor, Arron Villaflor was in the second, Paw Diaz in third, Charles Christianson in fourth, and DM Sevilla in fifth place. [edit] 2006: Star Circle Summer Kid Quest (Season 2)In 2006 the show made the second season of the kids edition. The show was called Summer Kid Quest because it was held in summer, between March-May. Luis Manzano still hosts the show, however, Jodi Sta. Maria was replaced by Anne Curtis in hosting due to her pregnancy. Meanwhile, director Joyce Bernal and award-winning actor Ricky Davao joins Eula Valdez and replaces Rowell Santiago and Maricel Laxa. [edit] Grand Questors DayHeld at ABS-CBN Studio 1. It was called Grand Questors' Day because it was held in daytime and not at Night.
