Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI), now named Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), is a university situated in Porur, Chennai, India.

SRU was founded by Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust on September 11, 1985 by Shri NPV Ramaswamy Udayar [1936 - 1998]. Originally founded as a medical college, it became a University in December, 2006

In the year 1997, SRU entered into a relationship with Partners Harvard Medical International in order to pursue curriculum reform, faculty development, and improvements in health care quality and patient safety in the school's affiliated medical center.

Sri Ramachandra Medical Center (SRMC) is a tertiary care multi-specialty university hospital. With over 1500 beds, 114 ICU beds, 25 operating rooms, and a campus spread over 175 acres (0.71 km²), SRMC is one of the largest private health care facilities in South Asia. In March 2009, the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre was accredited by Joint Commission International. This distinction followed an intensive collaboration with health care improvement experts at Partners Harvard Medical International.
