Speedy Gonzales is a 1961 David Dante's song (RCA 8056)[1], popularized in the United States as a 1962 single by Pat Boone about Speedy Gonzales, "the fastest mouse in all Mexico." It was written by Buddy Kaye, Ethel Lee and David Hill [2]. "Speedy Gonzales" kept the #6 Billboard position in 1962 for 13 weeks.[3] The female voice ("La-la-la...") on this song was of Robin Ward. [3] It also incorporated Mel Blanc voicing Speedy Gonzales in the cartoons. The David Dante original went top three in the Philippines in July 1961. This version featured barely any of the Speedy Gonzales' voice parts.[1] [edit] Other performances
The song was also sung (in Spanish) by Manolo Muñoz and Kumbia All Starz, by Rex Gildo (German title Kleiner Gonzales, which actually means "Little Gonzales") and in French by Danyel Gerard and by Dalida (French title: Le Petit Gonzales, i.e., "Little Gonzales"). Speedy Gonzales was also covered by The Wurzels in the 1980s. Speedy Gonzales by Kumbia All Starz is the third single from their album Ayer Fue Kumbia Kings, Hoy Es Kumbia All Starz.
