South Cobb High School is a public high school located on Clay Road, in Austell, Georgia, USA. Founded in 1952, South Cobb High School is part of the Cobb County School District. On June 25, 2009, Ashley Hosey, the previous assistant principal at Kennesaw Mountain High School, replaced Grant Rivera as principal (Dr. Rivera is the new principal of nearby Campbell High). Nominated National School of Excellence, South Cobb High School participates in the Cobb County magnet program. The school houses the county's program for medical sciences.
[edit] The Academy of Research and Medical ScienceThe Academy of Research and Medical Science at South Cobb High School was created in 2001. The Magnet Coordinator from 2001- 2007 was Mr. Ryan Fuller. The program changed it's name from The Academy of Mathematics and Research to it's current name The Academy of Research and Medical Science. The Magnet Coordinator from 2007-2009 was Dr. Joanne Lee, who returned from retirement to assist the magnet program during a time of need. the current magnet coordinator is Dr. Erika Ijames, a former senior research teacher. [edit] Blue Eagle Marching BandThe Blue Eagle Marching Band is South Cobb High School Marching Band Program. The program is currently led by Band Director Zach Cogdill. In January 2009, the marching band was given an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. and perform in the Inaguration or our 44th president, Barack Obama. The trip was made possible by many sponsors from around the Atlanta area including Peachtree City Movers, and the Atlanta radio station WWWQ (Q100). [edit] Key facts
