Snow White is a fictional character and the protagonist from Disney's 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as well as an official Disney Princess.
ProfilePersonalitySnow White is a princess of noble birth who is forced into servitude by her jealous stepmother, the Queen. She is innocent and a bit naive, but she never loses faith that one day her wish for true love will someday come and take her away.[1] She remains cheerful and kind, no matter how poorly her stepmother, the Queen, treats her.[2] She's a born optimist, who will always see the bottle half full no matter how grim things may seem. A silent dreamer, she loves helping people less fortunate than herself and never judges people. With a kind, gentle and feminine nature, she follows her heart and does what she feels is right even if it can lead her into trouble. For example, when she helps a suspicious, ugly crone by bringing her in to the cottage after Grumpy told her not to let anyone in. She sees the good in everyone and everything, almost to a fault, but through it all she's a good person with a huge heart and a motherly soul that can charm anyone, even Grumpy. WardrobeThe young girl is most identified as wearing the princess gown she wears when first lost in the forest: a red, blue, white and yellow dress, with a tall white collar. She wears a red ribbon in her hair with the bow set on top of her head.[3] During the beginning of the film she wears tattered, patched-up brown and white dress and clogs singing 'My Prince Will Come". DevelopmentWalt Disney had difficulty finding a suitable voice for Snow White. A casting director for Disney phoned a well-known voice coach named Guido Caselotti, to help him. Overhearing the conversation, Caselotti's daughter Adriana got on the phone and sang and spoke in a young girl's voice. Embarrassed, Guido ordered his daughter to get off the phone, but the casting director had already invited her to audition. After Walt heard her, he cast her immediately.[1] AppearancesSnow White and the Seven DwarfsMain article: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film) Princess Snow White, a beautiful fourteen year old girl[4] with a wonderful, otherworldly singing voice, is seen working as a scullery maid in the kingdom. As she uses the well to scoop the bucket up with more water, she begins to sing; she is seen by a prince and runs, embarrassed, into the castle. He sings back to her, but she continues to hide. Snow White's stepmother, the Queen, grows jealous of her stepdaughter because of her kindness and beauty. Fearing that one day her stepdaughter's beauty will surpass her own, she consults with her Magic Mirror, who confirms that the princess is indeed the fairest of them all. The Queen instructs the huntsman to take Snow White in to the forest to be killed, but instead he tells her to run away. Frightened, Snow White runs in to the forest and finds consolation with some animal friends. Snow White discovers a cottage. Since the items and pieces of furniture are all so tiny, she assumes that the house is owned by seven children who possibly have no parents. It is revealed however that the cottage residents are seven dwarf miners, who are very surprised to see Snow White in their house when they return from the mines. Upon learning of her fate and identity, they agree to let her live in their house. During this time, she cooks, cleans, and cares for the dwarfs. The Queen discovers that Snow White is still alive and disguises herself as a hag. She finds Snow White in the dwarfs' cottage while they are out at the mines and offers her a poisoned apple. Snow White bites in to the apple and falls to the ground. The dwarfs arrive soon after and are unable to save Snow White, but they chase the Queen up a cliff until she falls to her death. Unwilling to bury Snow White, because of her beauty, the dwarfs build a glass coffin in which to lay her to rest. She is left in the woods, where the prince from earlier finds her. He kisses her and she awakens. The two leave together to presumably be married.
