[edit] Singles wrestler

Akbar started out as a professional wrestler in 1963 as Jimmy Wehba. He changed his name to Skandor Akbar at the suggestion of Fritz Von Erich in 1966, in order to sound more Arabic. Akbar's father is from Lebanon and mother from Syria.[citation needed] Akbar teamed with Danny Hodge and eventually turned on him, starting a feud.

[edit] Manager

Akbar retired from active wrestling in 1977 and became a heel manager in the Texas area. He always called his stable "Devastation, Inc.". He spent most of his time in World Class Championship Wrestling and Mid-South Wrestling. Akbar smoked cigars at ringside, harassed the fans during his proteges' matches, and occasionally threw fireballs at unsuspecting opponents. "The General" also used various nicknames during his ringside interviews taking potshots at various faces such as Kerry Von Erich (either horseface or eggplant brain), Eric Embry (the flamboyant piece of trash), Percy Pringle (Captain Misfit), or Chris Adams (The slimy limey from Liverpool).

In 1995, Akbar briefly managed Kevin Von Erich as a face. Eventually, though, he turned heel on Von Erich only weeks before Von Erich decided to retire for good. Akbar also managed Toni Adams for a short time in the GWF.

[edit] Retirement

Akbar is now retired and trains wrestlers. He has appeared on both the Heroes of World Class and Triumph and Tragedies of World Class DVDs, released in 2005 and 2007 respectively.

On August 17, 2008 he managed Inner Circle (Sean Cordova & Joey Spector) at Bayou Independent Wrestling in West Monroe, Louisiana and defeated the team of the Big Time Playas (Scott McKenzie & Danny Matthews).

On October 4, 2008 he appeared at IHW Entertainment's "One Night Only" event alongside WCCW partners Bill Mercer and Marc Lowrance.

On January 31, 2009 he managed The Cowboys (Jeremy Young & Curt Raines) at American Championship Wrestling-Texas in Marshall, Texas and help defeat the team of Rick Christie & Jason Skyy.

Akbar will be honored in October 2009 by IHW Entertainment & take a place in there Hall of Fame.

On October 25th 2009 Akbar helped his henchman Dr. Knuckles win the Wrecking Ball Wrestling Championship. [1]
