Sidi Slimane is a small city in the western centre of Morocco. It is located between two major cities: Kenitra and Meknes. Sidi Slemane Is the Birth place of Youssef Tayeb. The economy is mainly focused on agriculture. Its population is mostly made of rural migrants. The society is still plagued with major problems such as illiteracy and unemployment. Sidi Slimane is mostly renowned for its quality citrus products. It has two high schools, a communal library, a downtown called "filaj" (village in French) and a stadium. Sidi Slimane was home to a United States Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) base in the 1950s. It was used mainly as a temporary deployment base for SAC bombers and fighters.
