Shinobu Tanaka (田中 しのぶ Tanaka Shinobu) is a Japanese video game composer. She has been employed at Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development since 2001, and is best known for scoring several games in the Mario series. [edit] BiographyShinobu Tanaka joined Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development in 2001.[1] Tanaka made her debut the same year composing the score for Animal Crossing, initially released in April for the Nintendo 64; her fellow composers were Kazumi Totaka, Tōru Minegishi, and Kenta Nagata.[2] Her subsequent role as a composer came with the Nintendo GameCube launch title Luigi's Mansion with Totaka.[3] In 2002, Tanaka assisted Koji Kondo in creating the music for Super Mario Sunshine.[4] Some pieces from the game were included in the compilation Happy! Mario 20th ~ Super Mario Sound Collection.[5] Compositions from several of her video game works were featured in the albums Nintendo Sound Selection Vol. 1: Peach Healing Music (2003)[6] and Nintendo Sound Selection Vol. 3: Luigi B-Side Music (2005).[7] She scored Mario Kart: Double Dash‼ in 2003 with Nagata.[8] Her first solo project came in 2005 with the sequel to Double Dash‼, Mario Kart DS.[9] She also composed the Namco-produced titles Mario Kart Arcade GP (2005) and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 (2007).[1] In 2006, Tanaka scored Wii Play with Ryo Nagamatsu.[10] Some of her video game compositions were included in the 2008 game Super Smash Bros.
