Sharad (Sanskrit:शरत्) is the word for early Autumn season (Ritu) in the Hindu calendar. It roughly corresponds to the Western months of mid September to mid November. Sharad is followed by Hemant. In Hindu calendar there are six seasons with two months each. The variations of the spelling are "Sharat" in North India, "Sarath" or "Sharath" with strong "th" sound in South India. Among Hindus, people name there boy child as Sharad in the name of Full Moon night called Sharad Purnima, celebrated as a festival amongst Hindus.
