[edit] Early career

Prior to his notoriety from the BMEzine websites, Shannon developed the first online casino for Warren B. Eugene, building on their CTI based casino systems[citation needed]. He was also the head developer for SciFAX, Canon fax-computer integration tool allowing stand-alone fax machines to act as printers, scanners, and automated units, a technology which foreshadowed and was ultimately replaced by the fax modem[citation needed]. As a teen he released one of the first published VGA games (Alien Worlds)[citation needed], and developed one of the few hardware-damaging trojans which worked by initiating a feedback loop in SoundBlaster hardware[citation needed].

[edit] BMEzine

Larratt founded BMEzine in 1994.[1] In 2002 he was the host of the first of several BME Pain Olympics, and later edited and released the video of the same name that went viral.

In September 2007, there were issues over the ownership of BMEzine. Larratt claimed to be locked out of BMEzine, IAM, and his personal blog, Zentastic.[2] In the time between the lock out and his return, the alternate site bodytwo.com was used. In May 2008 Laratt posted on BME's modblog that he would no longer be working at BMEzine and that ownership of BMEzine would be transferred to Rachel Larratt.[3][4]

[edit] Personal Life and Other Projects

Shannon currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian citizen. He began piercing himself at the age of 16 and over the next five years had about every possible piercing.[5] His mother is the former host of the TV series Venture[citation needed]. Shannon's younger brother is Devon Larratt, one of the world's top arm wrestlers. Shannon made a cameo appearance in the Kevin Smith film Clerks II along with his ex-wife Rachel Larratt after Randal comments on a handicapped individual, with Rachel Larratt having a single spoken line: "You fucking freak." The couple share a daughter named Nefarious Freedom Larratt.

Shannon is also the author of the Chrome Experiment Bing-Bong!.
