Shane Birss (born 11 March 1983) is an Australian rules football player for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Birss was drafted by the Western Bulldogs from the Gippsland Under 18s in the 2001 AFL Draft. He was unable to play consistently to establish himself in the Bulldogs' best 18. He played 51 games and kicked 20 goals in 5 seasons, having debuted in 2002. To date he has played mostly as a wingman/flanker and is often used off the bench. His playing measurements as at the commencement of the 2006 season were 183 cm and 83 kg. He plays in number 40.

The 2006 Record describes Birss as a long kicking utility and as possessing ball winning abilities with a capacity for hard running. He is a player that wins plenty of the ball at VFL level but due to a low game-time has never been able to display this at the elite level. He uses the ball well hitting the target 80% of the time across five seasons. In nine VFL games in 2006 he featured in the best seven times.

He was traded to St Kilda during the 2006 Trade period for their 4th round draft selection at number 59.

He was delisted by St Kilda at the end of the 2008 season.
