[edit] History

They were formed in 2006 as Puerto Rico Islanders B, a farm team for the Puerto Rico Islanders, and played in the now defunct "Liga Premier" from 2006 to 2007. In 2008 they affiliated with Sevilla FC of La Liga, one of the leading clubs of Spain and changed their name to Sevilla Bayamón FC.[1] They are also one of the 8 founding members of the Puerto Rico Soccer League, the first nationwide league in Puerto Rico. Before the 2009 season they folded due to ownership problems, however the city of Juncos bought them in time for the 2009 season thus allowing Sevilla FC Puerto Rico defend its title.

Sevilla FC debuted on July 3, 2008, in a game against Caguas Huracán, which they won with a score of 1-0.[2] In its second game the team defeated Club Atletico River Plate Puerto Rico, one goal to none.[3] On July 20, 2008, Sevilla FC defeated Academia Quintana to gain the lead in the league's standing.[4] The team solidified their position in the fourth game, where they defeated Atléticos de San Juan 1-0.[5] On the fifth date of the tournament the team defeated Tornados de Humacao 11-1.[6] On August 10, 2008, Sevilla had the first draw of the team's history against Guaynabo Fluminense FC.[7] This marked the end of the league's first half, the teams would then compete against each other a second time. In the first two games of this stage, Sevilla FC defeated Gigantes de Carolina and Caguas Huracán.[8] To close the regular season, the team won 3, lost 2 and tied 1 game.[9][10][11][12][13] On October 2, 2008, Sevilla defeated the Carolina Giants 6-0 to clinch the first place of this stage.[14] On Saturday October 18, 2008 Bayamon Sevilla FC won the first Puerto Rico Soccer League Championship against Club Atletico River Plate with a score of 2-1.

2009 Season
In the 2009 season, the team moved to Juncos. Thus adding the towns name to the team, Sevilla-FC Juncos. Sevilla-FC Juncos won the leagues first game of the 2009 season 1-0 against new rivals Bayamon FC. [15] Sevilla FC won their next game 5-1 against Caguas Huracan.[16]

[edit] Colors and badge

Up until 2007 they wore uniforms resembling that of their parent club, the Puerto Rico Islanders, using the same colors of orange, dark blue and white. In 2008 when they partnered with Sevilla FC of Spain they adopted this team's uniforms and colors of white, purple, red and black. The current home kit is a replica of one of Sevilla FC's old uniforms: it is all white with black and red paint strokes that run horizontally just bellow the arm from right to left. The away uniforms also use this strokes but instead of black it uses white.[17]

[edit] Stadium

When Sevilla-FC Juncos was called Sevilla Bayamon FC, it played its matches at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, but after it moved from Bayamon due to financial problems, Sevilla-FC Juncos moved to Juncos after they have been given a new deal. Sevilla-FC Juncos new stadium will be located in the town of Juncos. The new stadium is going to be named Sevilla FC Stadium. They currently play at a local field in Juncos called the Alfredo "Papo" Alejandro Stadium .
